WCAA Director of Communications and Marketing

The Wellesley College Alumnae Association is responsible for connecting alumnae to the College and to each other – for building and preserving the Alumnae Network, which is considered a strategic asset of the College. This position oversees all alumnae communications and marketing efforts, including 1. Collaborate closely with ED and other WCAA division directors to develop annual communications and marketing plans to support the strategic initiatives of the association, and work with direct reports and colleagues to successfully implement and manage plans. Develop strategy for online content and maintenance. Write and direct well-written, high-quality communications for WCAA events (Reunion, Alumnae Leadership Council, Alumnae Achievement Awards, Stepsinging, etc.), encompassing emails, WCAA web pages, online community, social media, campus TV, premiums and other promotions. Identify, articulate and promote meaningful metrics; analyze, communicate, and adjust according to results. As necessary, anticipate problems and resolve conflicts. Deliver results via responsible use and allocation of resources available. 2. Work with the College’s Office of the President, Communications and Public Affairs, Resources, Career Education, LTS, Provost, Office of Religious and Spiritual Life, Harambee House, Hillel, and numerous other partners to write/review/send alumnae-focused communications that meet College design standards and incorporate and advance WCAA and College priorities. Oversee emails on behalf on academic departments and faculty such as Education, Humanities, Italian, Computer Science, etc. 3. Serve as member of Directors’ Leadership Team and be the expert and leader in integrated marketing and communications. Strengthen the voice and presence of the alumnae association. Liaise with chair(s) of the WCAA board’s Strategic Communications Committee and solicit input as needed. Present to the WCAA board 3x/year on communications initiatives, successes, and metrics. 4. Successfully manage direct reports (Performance assessment, feedback, and course corrections when required; training and development; hiring, as needed; etc.). Deliver exceptional customer service internally and externally. 5. Work with staff to ensure technology service offerings meet the needs of all constituents: alumnae staff, various campus partners, key volunteers, and WCAA board. Oversee continued adoption of MyWellesley Community, both for alumnae volunteer administrators and alumnae end-users. Review, update and manage technology offerings. 6. Participate in and help lead alumnae communications for special events, e.g., college presidential inauguration, Harambee House/Ethos anniversaries, Distinguished Faculty Lecture, commencement, Albright Institute keynotes. One direct report: Marketing communications manager or associate director of marketing communications.
