Department & Position Background: Center for Regional Economic Advancement (CREA) supports a diverse and thriving economy in Upstate New York through four programs: 1) Rev: Ithaca Startup Works, a business incubator that leverages existing entrepreneurial support services; 2) The Southern Tier Startup Alliance (STSA) designed to bring together and leverage the contributions of incubators and entrepreneurial support structures in the region; 3) 76West, a clean energy business competition and 4) NSF I-Corps, a program that prepares University scientists and engineers to move their technology toward commercialization.
The Center for Regional Economic Advancement also partners with Cornell colleges and units such as Johnson and Engineering to support entrepreneurship programs like eLab, W.E. Cornell, and the Technology Commercialization Fellows program.

The person in this position will help support our organization by creating and distributing digital and print content for a wide variety of communication channels supporting a variety of entrepreneurship-focused programs. They will help create and execute integrated marketing communications plans while ensuring overall brand and message consistency. They will assist with project management, create multimedia content, design print and digital collateral, and write and edit social media posts, newsletters, press releases, and web content. Most importantly, they will be a part of a modern, uber-collaborative team helping springboard startups to success.
This is a one year term position with the possibility of renewal based on funding availability, business need, and successful performance.
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, writing or related field with a minimum of 2 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have professional attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and execution
Must be comfortable working in an environment where change is common; capable of setting priorities under pressure
Must have an ability to work and collaborate with others under little supervision while demonstrating a positive, purpose-oriented work ethic
Experience managing social media accounts
Basic experience with design software programs including Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign
Experience using AP writing style and the ability to write professionally for a variety of mediums including websites, email, social media, and blogs
A passion for telling stories with words, pictures, and multimedia that connect to larger integrated marketing plan priorities
Understanding of integrated brand management and how to create pieces that align with brand guidelines
6 months-2 years professional experience in marketing and communications.
Experience with Mailchimp or other email distribution tools; experience with WordPress or other content management systems.
