The Assistant Athletic Director, Marketing & Fan Engagement will develop and implement marketing, game operations and promotional plans to enhance the brand and revenue of Marquette Athletics. He/she is responsible for many external operations of the department; delivers, directs and implements the strategy plan for marketing, promotions, game management, community outreach, and student spirit groups.
Bachelor’s degree required. 3-5 years of sports marketing experience required. Five or more years of marketing experience, with a strong emphasis on marketing men’s basketball, preferred. Applicants should have a proven track record of creative solutions for marketing and branding athletics, and have demonstrated excellent managerial and organizational abilities. Ability to supervise marketing and spirit squad staffs/members. Collaborate regularly with area heads in Athletic Communications and Athletic Development, as well as the University’s Office of Marketing and Communications, and Advancement.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Develop, coordinate and execute the strategy for Marquette Athletics marketing, branding, promotions, external exposure and constituent engagement with a focus on Men’s Basketball. 2. Provide leadership to create a sales and customer service culture throughout the department that sells and retains tickets for all ticketed sports and annual donor seating. 3. Supervises the department’s external operations including marketing, promotions, and event management staff. 4. Collaborates daily with senior management of Ticket Sales & Strategy, Ticket Operations & Service and Marquette Sports Properties. 5. Develops external vision of department working closely with athletic communications, athletic development, licensing, merchandising and Marquette Sports Properties. 6. Develops, implements, and directs department external operations plan, with accountability revenue. 7. Coordinates with ticket operation to implement plan to meet all ticket revenue goals, including individual, season and group ticket sales; assists in the sale of corporate suites and premium seating. 8. Serves as department liaison with external constituents in advertising and sponsorships, as they relate to the department radio and television affiliations; oversees corporate marketing strategies. 9. Advances the goal of making the Marquette University game experience enjoyable for all in attendance. 10. Create men’s basketball marketing plan. 11. Create advertising plans to supplement ticket sales plans. 11. Develop a comprehensive marketing plan to increase awareness and revenue opportunities for the athletics department. 12. Collaborate with Marquette Sports Properties to help facilitate incremental corporate sales. 13. Help increase ticket sales and revenue. 14. Improve the present and shape the future of the athletics department as a member of the Athletic Director’s Senior Management Team. 15. Be a leading voice for the direction of the external relations department as a member of the External Relations Leadership Team. 16. Develop and manage the annual marketing budget. 17. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested.
