The College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences is seeking a Director of Communications and Marketing. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.
The Director of Communications and Marketing oversees communications and strategic marketing by the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences (CEOAS) at Oregon State University (OSU). The position is responsible and accountable for communicating the value, societal relevance, and impact of CEOAS's research, teaching, and outreach programs to diverse audiences, including but not limited to prospective students and sponsors, alumni, industry, and the general public. As other responsibilities allow, the position is accessible and provides guidance to members of the CEOAS community in communicating their research and other activities within and beyond the university. Additionally, the Director ensures consistency of messages and branding in CEOAS's communications. The Director manages assignments of work within the communications and strategic marketing team, schedules and budgets for projects and other activities, quality of deliverables, and evaluation of success. The Director serves as a member of the CEOAS leadership team and collaborates regularly with OSU University Relations and Marketing, Newsroom, Foundation, Alumni Association, and Government Relations.
Typically requires Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Journalism or related field. 3 years' experience as professional journalist or managing communications and marketing functions.

Five years of professional experience in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field.
Demonstrated skill in written, visual, and oral communication with diverse audiences.
Experience in planning and implementation of communications or marketing strategies.
Experience in management of a portfolio of projects.
Experience in leading a team of professionals with different position types and career stages.
A demonstrable commitment to promoting and advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position. Therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

Occasional travel to report on or facilitate communications and marketing at university and other events, and at field sites, is required.
Attendance at some events on evenings or weekend is required.
Hybrid on-campus and remote work locations will be considered provided such an arrangement does not compromise establishment and maintenance of strong working relationships with colleagues and the CEOAS community.
