The Digital Editor/Writer is responsible for strategically directing, creating and editing digital content for the Keck Medicine of USC's clinical audiences. This content consists of service overviews, treatment summaries, disease overviews, online ad campaigns and pages, email, search copy and other user-engaged copy. Because our primary focus is marketing, the applicant should be an expert at translating technical details into language that can be easily consumed by patients and visitors. The successful candidate will coordinate day-to-day posting of approved content, develop and maintain audit calendars, communicate progress reports to stakeholders and directors, supervise writers, ensure sites meet usability and Section 508 requirements and validate that all new content is in compliance with legal and branding regulations for the Keck Medicine enterprise.
Essential Duties:
Identifies, analyzes, evaluates, measures and validates the impact of content choices and edits across websites and blogs.
Can create content from reseach (trending topics and search demand) through publications and distribution (adapt for various placements web, social, email, search).
Leads the resolution of web-based content and strategic issues by applying technical expertise to ensure project requirements are met. Develop and articulate content strategy that reaches social media and other content marketing goals to stakeholders and management.
Responsible for reviewing staff writing for writing and participating in content assignments as it relates to the website content strategy.
Responsible that websites meet usability and Section 508 requirements and validate that all new content is in compliance with legal and branding regulations for the Keck Medicine of USC enterprise.
Responsible for generating reports, audit calendars, image selection and image sourcing.
Measure and validate the impact of content edits and choices across all websites through techniques such as Google analytics and other industry tools.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree Journalism or Marketing, or other related area of study
3 years writing and editing for print publications and/or websites
Understanding of AP writing style. Ability to lead content interviews with clients to gain information for web content.
Excellent organizational skills and a keen eye for detail
Strong work ethic and ability to produce a high output of content
Ability to write quickly, clearly, and concisely for a variety of digital channels web, social, search, ads
Understanding of basic digital writing principles
Understanding of SEO standard methodologies and principles
Experience using keyword research tools and Google Analytics
Experience with content management systems to update content with a basic understanding of HTML
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree
Experience with writing Web content and/or experience in healthcare setting.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
The hourly rate range for this position is $29.00 - $45.20.
