About the position: NC TECH is seeking a versatile Manager of Marketing + Communications to join our team. This role is pivotal in enhancing our brand's digital presence, engaging with our community, supporting our mission and vision, and expanding our reach through effective communication strategies. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of creativity, analytical prowess, social media expertise, and exceptional writing/communication skills. This is a full-time position based in Raleigh, NC. Key Responsibilities:
Digital Content: Develop and implement comprehensive strategies that align with NC TECH's goal to inform/engage existing members and reach/build relationships with prospective audience. Lead the creation and execution of communications and messaging across multiple platforms on social media, email messaging, and website oversite.
Website Management: Manage updates, develop new content including member generated, leverage the use of digital art and graphics to keep website current, relevant and accurate. Develop strategies to drive traffic to the website.
Newsletter and Messaging Management: Oversee the newsletter and email messaging production process from concept to completion, including copywriting and layout design, to ensure consistent, engaging, and informative communication with our members and wider audience.
Press Release Writing and Distribution: Craft compelling media press releases to highlight NC TECH initiatives and news, as well as manage their distribution to maximize reach and impact.
Media Relations: Build and maintain relationships with media outlets and journalists to enhance NC TECH's visibility and influence in the tech sector across North Carolina.
Event Promotion Support: Develop and execute marketing strategies to promote NC TECH events through content creation, including marketing emails, video, social media posts, and digital ads with objective of increasing participation and engagement among our tech community.
Analytics and Reporting: Utilize metrics to track and analyze efforts to increase engagement with target audiences including SEO, social media, press release, and media coverage.
Communications Calendar: Strategic planning and management of the messaging calendar.
Community Engagement: Facilitate online conversations, respond to inquiries, and foster a positive community environment across all platforms.
Content Creation: Develop ideas for stories including member testimonials, profiles, interviews, etc. to be covered in NC TECH communications and social media.
Video and Photography: Assist with video and photography including providing live updates and engagement at NC TECH events.
Event Onsite Support: Provide staff support for Signature Events and other activities requiring staff participation.
What you’ll need to Be Successful:
2- or 4- year degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
At least 1 year of relevant experience in marketing, communications, or a similar role, with a strong preference for experience in the technology sector. (Entry-level candidates should have relevant internships, coursework, or projects.)
Proven track record in social media management, content creation, press release writing, and media relations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce compelling content for a variety of audiences and formats.
Creative and strategic thinker with a passion for technology and innovation.
Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms, including website management, social media management and analytics tools. Experience with SEO and digital ads. Competency or willingness to learn Canva or other simple graphic capabilities. Competency or willingness to learn short-form video creation.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity and experience working with associations, chambers, university organizations, etc. is a plus
Ability to take initiative, manage multiple detail-oriented projects and prioritize assignments.
Good collaboration skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Competency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), use of the web, savvy with social media and an aptitude to quickly learn and comfortably use other various technology platforms including CRM systems and prospect databases.
Ability for limited travel as well as some morning/evening commitments
