The Associate Director for Marketing and Communications is part of a small team focused on the continued success and improvements of the Divisionâ™s pre-college and undergraduate programs. Reporting to the Director of Enrollment Management, the Associate Director is responsible for developing and implementing marketing and communications strategy to young scholars and athletes, and their families throughout the lifecycle, which includes prospective, applicant, matriculant, registrant, while in attendance, and alumni. While the majority of these programs occur during the summer months, there are additional offerings in the fall, winter, and spring for which the Associate Director will be responsible for building and deploying appropriate strategies. Aligned with the implementation of strategy, the Associate Director will be responsible for developing all written copy related to the same lifecycle, and ensuring that the marketing and communications efforts remain within a determined budget. The position will supervise the Manager for Marketing and Communications, who is responsible for the web- and print-based design and implementation of strategy. Real-time course correction will occur in each cycle, so this position will need to be highly responsive, navigating both long-term strategic thinking and short-term adjustments throughout the year in order to successfully contribute to the sustainability of these programs in an expanding market.
Primary responsibilties include:
Develop and implement strategy for all programming (40%)
Write and copyedit all copy related to marketing and communications (30% )
Determine venues for advertising, search words, and digital and social media campaigns aligned to strategy and budget. (10%)
Align communications, tracking, and assessment efforts for marketing with those systems already in place within the Division (10%)
Supervise and support Marketing team members 10%
Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree and 7+ years related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
Specific demonstrated experience launching and marketing new products to adult markets. Experience in education preferred.
Agency management or agency experience a plus
Experience with CRM tools, project management and workflow software, and ability to learn new systems.
Ability to manage details of simultaneous complex projects
Ability to understand strategic objectives and align and adjust initiatives
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational, project management, and production skills involving multiple, simultaneous projects
Ability to perform and manage project details under tight deadlines
Expert knowledge of print, design, media and advertising as well as technology and new media best practices
Thorough understanding of marketing permissions, copyright and all aspects of intellectual property management for marketing
Expert knowledge of: Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel), HTML and graphics production experience a plus
Fluency with current technology developments, digital tools and social media. Ability to learn new systems.
