The Marketing and Communications Manager for the Office of International Affairs (OIA) plays a critical role in the planning and implementation of strategic marketing initiatives for International Admissions, International & Student Scholar Services (ISSS), Global Programs, the Confucius Institute, International Student Affairs (ISA), the Office of Executive Leadership Education (OELE), and overseas liaisons (Greater China, South Korea, Taiwan, India). The incumbent will serve as a key contributor to strategic decision-making and planning within the Office of International Affairs aimed at ensuring the best ROI for recruiting and other OIA endeavors. Another essential responsibility will be acting as the lead liaison to the International Admissions unit, bridging any gaps, between recruiting and marketing. Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential functions for the Marketing and Communications Manager include
Contributing to strategic decision-making and planning within the Office of International Affairs based on marketing experience and knowledge, with a focus on implementing tactics that ensure the best ROI.
Supporting OIA's central marketing plans and the greater university's increasing globalization efforts by creating and managing content for web, print, and other media.
Managing, prioritizing, and fulfilling project requests from the various units within OIA, with a focus on International Admissions, Global Programs, and International Student and Scholar Services.
Providing marketing/design guidance to the Center for American Language and Culture (Center).
Completing shorter/smaller projects in house and working with Strategic Marketing and Communications or Freelancer to complete larger projects.
Monitoring budget for all projects.
Serving as primary liaison between marketing and International Admissions.
Serving as marketing technology liaison for all units of OIA Inbound. Field questions related to pertinent marketing applications such as OIA lead collection application, email application and other programs and technology utilized by OIA staff.
Managing OIA's lead collection application, including, but not limited to, revising forms prior to each travel season to reflect most up-to-date enrollment terms, communicating with recruitment staff regarding updates and instructions, and managing leads from recruitment trips to upload into the yearlong communication plan.
Identifying and targeting platforms to feature the university's international news within Temple, Philadelphia, nationally, and internationally.
Designing print and digital materials for OIA's various units and supervising design interns to ensure quality and deadlines.
Creating and disseminating digital communication efforts such as e-blasts to various stakeholders, including prospects, suspects, high school counselors, parents, faculty & staff, current students, and more; and monitoring results of digital campaigns through Email Service Provider (ESP) analytics.
Managing, updating, and supervising communications social media intern to insure updating and monitoring social media platforms.
Serving as primary liaison for university Customer Relationship Management implementation team, OIA, and Strategic Marketing & Communications, and developing communication flow for Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Recruit.
Managing video projects, including, but not limited to, prioritizing video needs, conceptualizing and writing storyboard for promotional videos, and supervising video intern.
Suggesting and generating updated content for OIA website, including frequent updates of the organizational chart and slider images.
Assisting with the planning and execution of international-related university events and delegation visits, including, but not limited to, creating print collateral, signage, PowerPoints and photography.
Serving as lead in developing relationships with vendors, member organizations (such as NAFSA), and government organizations (such as EducationUSA) to elevate Temple’s international profile. Providing support as needed to International Student Affairs, the Confucius Institute, the Office of Executive Leadership Education, and overseas liaisons (Greater China, South Korea, Taiwan, India).
Conducting research, including leading focus groups, to maximize impact of marketing.
Representing OIA among university stakeholders as requested by AVP and/or Director of Communications.
Utilizing knowledge of the recruitment process to bridge gaps between marketing and admissions and facilitate knowledge sharing.
Researching, selecting, designing, and ordering promotional items for OIA's various units, with a focus on International Admissions, Global Programs, and International Student and Scholar Services; and monitoring costs associated with promotional items.
Serving as photographer for special events and international guests/delegations.
Participating in international recruiting efforts international and/or domestically by participating in webinars/online fairs.
Contributing to the team effort by accepting additional responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President or Assistant Vice President for International Affairs.
Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
