Title: Communications and Marketing Specialist Department: Communications Job Status: Full-time Position Summary: The Communications and Marketing Specialist is an integral member of the Miss Porter’s School Communications and Marketing Department. The candidate has superb knowledge of digital and social media as well as the appetite to project manage and execute on initiatives that promote the school brand and identity to our community of parents, students, alumnae, prospective students, and wider audiences. Duties and Responsibilities: Under the guidance of the Chief Communications Officer and Associate Director of Communications and Marketing, is responsible for content planning, curation, sourcing, and production for Miss Porter’s School social media channels, which include Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. Manage and execute a dynamic range of social media story content to engage audiences in the mission and vision of Miss Porter’s School. Oversee social media content contributors (students, faculty/staff members, alumnae, etc.) and work closely with Porter’s students to develop student-generated social media content. In coordination with the Department of Information Technology, maintain website content assets and requested updates including images, text, and video, and use the school’s CMS to create web pages and publish content. In conjunction with Information Technology, oversee the process and procedures for website updates from Miss Porter’s School departments. Execute the production and analytics of e-newsletters, including the sourcing of images and the layout of text, image, and video. Manage email requests from other campus departments, oversee the email calendar for key audiences, and execute email campaigns. Track analytics to measure effectiveness and efficiency of digital marketing campaigns. Oversee the analytics/SEO for the porters.org website and social media channels. Take and edit photos and videos and create slideshows and videos that engage and inspire, for use on social media, porters.org, e-newsletters, and in print publications. Manage all photo, video, and logo assets. Implement a photo database to archive and organize photo and video assets. Design board reports, infographics, and other graphic assets as needed. Oversee the communications and marketing content calendar. Execute the rollout of the communications and marketing request system and serve as front line point person for departmental requests. Assist with the Miss Porter’s School magazine as needed, including managing class notes and faculty news. Other duties as assigned. The Ideal Candidate: Communicates effectively, is comfortable working individually as well as collaboratively, and is self-motivated with a sense of creativity. Is organized and able to juggle a varied workload, and is willing to adapt as the role grows and changes with the school and current communications and independent school trends. Has a deep familiarity with, and understanding of, using and growing followers on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, Youtube, LinkedIn etc. and understands and keeps current with social media best practices, trends, and analytics. Must be available and willing to work evenings and weekends and be willing to travel occasionally to conduct interviews and/or capture photos/videos of individuals or events as needed. Has experience with video filming, editing, photography. Education and Experience: B.A. required 2+ years of experience working in digital communications and marketing, with experience curating digital storytelling efforts, including content creation. Experience producing and managing marketing assets, e-newsletters, and website updates. Knowledge and understanding of SEO and digital marketing analytics, and experience using social media analytics, monitoring, measurement, and scheduling tools like Google Adwords, Sprout Social, Hootsuite, ISSU, TweetDeck, Buffer and SproutSocial. Ability to write basic HTML is preferred. Experience with Adobe CC Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) preferred. The essential functions and basic skills for this position have been included.
