The successful candidate will bring non-profit marketing and communications experience to this growing position. Your expertise will be relied upon to help Houston Children’s Charity develop a new area of the organization. Working closely with the President & CEO, Administrative Director and Programs Managers, the Marketing, Communications and Public Relations Manager will be responsible for all aspects of Marketing, Communications and Public Relation needs including the following tasks:
Creation and implementation of overall Marketing, Communications and Public Relations Strategic Plan for Houston Children’s Charity
Support for President & CEO
Send press releases on events at the direction of the President & CEO
Assist with Press Conferences at the direction of the President & CEO including media packets, calling press, live tweeting, live Facebook and Instagram - taking photos and branding our work with the community
Showcase Houston Children’s Charity daily success stories via the newsletters, eBlasts, social media – Facebook and Twitter and all other creative means
Talking points for the President & CEO as needed
Editorial pieces for Houston Children’s Charity for on-line and print
Newsletter for Houston Children’s Charity and all the programs within
Creation and execution of eblasts including – monthly eBlasts that focuses on events, Houston Children’s Charity in the Community, and initiatives and any other possible information that can increase Houston Children’s Charity’s visibility in the community
Other marketing editorial pieces as needed
Press / Media / Marketing
Creating overall marketing calendar
Manage all aspects of internal and external marketing, communications and public relations
Pitching Houston Children’s Charity stories to media, TV, radio, digital and editorial
Pitching and creating Houston Children’s Charity PSAs, ads online and in print and billboards
Creating Houston Children’s Charity collateral pieces for individual programs
Social Media / Website
Maintaining social media and increasing followers; using tags and hashtags as necessary; increase Houston Children’s Charity followers; tweet live from events when appropriate
Creating information users want – ie, upcoming events on Facebook
Maintaining Houston Children’s Charity website
Maintaining Houston Children’s Charity blog either by contributing articles, tagging articles and/or securing 3rd party writers
Maintain online statistics as related to website, eblasts and social media
Manage / highlight partners for website and email
Solicit media ambassadors where possible
Writing editorial for programs
Working on event videos
Working on all event invites, printing needs, mailing, etc.
Writing event talking points
Hiring photographer – shot list, photos printed after event
Work with President & CEO on pre and post photos for all media and press
Work all Houston Children’s Charity events as needed
Assist Program Managers in communicating, highlighting and promoting the programs in the community
Speak / Display at local schools, events, companies as requested
Young Houstonians for Houston Children’s Charity – liaison to group and HCC
Other duties as assigned by the President & CEO
Proven experience (3-5 years) in progressive marketing.
Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills required.
Demonstrated proficiency and skill with Microsoft Office applications as well as various graphics software and HTML editing software.
Proven ability to develop and execute compelling marketing plans, as well as a demonstrated presentation and communication skills in formal and informal settings.
Be self-motivated, innovative and collaborative, and excel as a multi-tasking, creative, analytical, and quick thinker.
Knowledge in new media, including social media required.
The desire and ability to represent Houston Children’s Charity in a professional manner to external constituencies on a local, regional and national level.
Additional Salary Information: Yearly bonus
