COMMUNICATIONS AND PROGRAM MANAGER , Abdul Jameel World Water and Food Systems Laboratory (J-WAFS) , to generate compelling content and drive J-WAFS' communications strategy using best practices in higher education. Will develop and create content and coordinate the production and distribution of digital and print communications; develop campaigns around newsworthy topics, including media relations, and report on qualitative/quantitative results; coordinate with other departments/labs/centers and working groups to maximize outreach; develop/redesign other collateral for different audiences, particularly around fund-raising; lead all formal reporting and tracking of major research outcomes; support the generation of proposals and presentations; manage external inquiries and maintain Salesforce contact database; collaboratively plan and manage in-person and virtual events; coordinate J-WAFS call for proposals process and oversight of funded projects; assist with collecting and developing program evaluation data; and provide other support as needed.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : bachelor's degree; five years' progressively responsible experience in communications, program management, or related area; excellent time-management, editing, and oral and written communication skills; meticulous attention to detail; experience with scientific and engineering content; proficiency with MS Office; flexibility; comfort working with a diverse group of collaborators from different cultures/backgrounds; discretion and judgment with confidential information; and willingness to perform a variety of support activities as needed. Must be able to handle a wide variety of duties within a small team; prioritize and complete deadline-driven tasks despite interruptions; work proactively and independently; learn quickly; develop clear, concise, accurate, and timely reports; and identify and proactively resolve problems. PREFERRED : experience in an academic, international, or multisector collaborative context; graduate degree; MIT experience; experience with desktop publishing software (e.g., PhotoShop, InDesign, Acrobat Pro, Illustrator), MailChimp, and Drupal; and experience managing assistant-level personnel.
