The Kaplan Institute will help Illinois Tech students chart a path to becoming Chicago's next tech leaders by offering innovation programs that teach them how to innovate and translate ideas into the market, where it can lead to positive impact.
We are seeking an events marketing manager to develop and implement a marketing strategy for the Kaplan Institute for Tech Entrepreneurship and Innovation and liaise with the centralized marketing and communications department (M&C) for the institution. Our marketing goal is to dramatically raise the Kaplan Institute's visibility and engagement with our internal stakeholders, industry partners and the Bronzeville community. We engage with our stakeholders through social media, newsletters, innovation programs, and community events. We are seeking a marketing manager to lead and manage these communications and share our purpose with our community.
A successful marketing manager will increase our engagement with our targeted stakeholders and use marketing analytics tools to demonstrate their performance on a quarterly basis. This role is perfect for an events and digital marketer who loves to be creative with words and has the discipline and initiative to set and meet marketing goals.

Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in marketing, business, journalism / communication, or relevant work experience
- 3+ years' prior experience working in a marketing or communications capacity, preferably in incubators, innovation hubs or academic institutions.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Familiarity managing audience segments and mailing lists.
- Familiarity with customer relationship management systems (CRM)
- Management or oversight of digital marketing campaigns
- Designing strategies to target specific audiences and boost event and program attendance
- Designing content pillars aligned with brand identity
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- Strong analytical / project management skills
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, with high tolerance for ambiguity and complexity
- Innovative, resourceful, and efficient with limited resources
- Ability to juggle priorities and autonomously manage your time to ensure the most value-add to the team and company
- Incredibly organized with impeccable attention to detail
- Ability to influence and manage wide-scale projects across multiple levels and functions of the organization; understands how to motivate teams while maintaining a sense of humility
