Boston University has an extensive network of web sites serving our community of prospective students, students, alumni, athletics, faculty, and staff. This is an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects with various partners in the university community and to help build the next iteration of web sites at BU .
We are looking for a Senior WordPress Developer to dive into the development and deployment of both websites built with our content management system, as well as plugins and additional features for the university-wide WordPress ecosystem. You will work with the project team to fulfill requirements based on scope and design comps, optimize code within the code base, collaborate on QA testing and bug-fixing, and assist with implementation and deployment. You will also act as a technical support resource and mentor for project team members. You will help determine appropriate tools, methods, and solutions for projects, produce project scope, and estimate effort to advise project managers in setting project schedule and deadlines as well as act as a thought leader in WordPress for project team members, bridging design, development, and production of websites and web-based applications.

- B.A. or B.S. in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 5-8 years of experience.
- Understanding of basic computer science algorithms and data structures.
- Extensive experience working with project-based teams.
Significant experience with:
- PHP, JavaScript, and the newest HTML and CSS standards & preprocessors, such as Sass.
- Developing custom features and functionality for WordPress
- Creating WordPress plugins
- Using task runners, such as NPM/Grunt
- Extensive knowledge of the WordPress core codebase
- Producing unit testing and QA
- WordPress as a Network
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working and releasing code to open-source
- Exposure to MV* frameworks
- Manual data retrieval using SQL
- Developing for WordPress Gutenberg editor & React experience
- WordPress CLI
