Summary of Duties:
The Marketing/Promotions Coordinator, in conjunction with the Associate Athletic Director of Marketing & Fan Experience, oversees the development, implementation, and execution of in-game presentation for assigned sports, a comprehensive strategic marketing and promotions plan for all home athletic events for all 17 sports targeting a variety of diverse audiences including alumni, faculty, staff, friends of WSU, administration, and current students. This position directly oversees the Marketing of any combination of the following sports: Volleyball, women's basketball, baseball, cross country, track and field, golf, rowing, tennis and swimming programs. This position also manages a variety of public relation activities on-campus and within the community, including direct oversight of the departments local print and radio advertising. This position also assists the Director of Marketing and Fan Experience with oversight of ZZU CRU, WSU's student fan group. This position is also responsible for oversight of the Marketing Department's student practicum program, including the recruitment, hiring and tracking hours for all Sports Management practicum students. In addition, the Assistant Director of Marketing & Promotions will work in conjunction with our multimedia rights holder IMG to creatively expand the reach of the Junior Cougar program.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, communications or related field and three (3) years of professional level experience in marketing, promotional or related work. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends on a regular basis.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid unrestricted driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in marketing, public relations, communications, sports management or other related field.
- Demonstrated successful marketing and promotion experience in athletics.
- Demonstrated experience in the development and management of budgets.
- Demonstrated work experience in sponsorship sales and contract fulfillments.
- Demonstrated successful experience in management and supervision of internship or student programs.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate and complete projects independently and with specific deadlines.
- Demonstrated experience working in positions that require strong communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience running video boards.
- Possess strong time management and organizational skills.
- Strong computer background with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe software.
- Ability to work with students, coaches, and administrators in a broad range of situations.
