The University of Texas at Dallas’ Coordinator of Athletic Marketing will be responsible for developing and implementing the Department of Athletics’ storytelling and marketing strategy through creating and producing quality visual content that will be distributed through UTD’s various digital channels – social media, website and video screens.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- CREATIVE CONTENT: Create, plan, produce and edit visual marketing and promotions video/graphics for various venues, including the athletics website, social media outlets, and electronic displays on campus. These projects could include short-form features, advertising/marketing pieces, and hype/highlight videos as well as other innovative social media content.
- VISUAL MARKETING STRATEGY: Collaborate with department administrators, staff members and coaches in creating and implementing a visual content strategy that builds awareness for UTD Athletics, supports its student athletes and coaches, and drives fan attendance and engagement.
- SOCIAL MEDIA: Oversee department’s social media efforts, including management of main athletic accounts in various platforms. Constantly research best practices and options in social media to ensure content strategy is in-line with audience trends. Identify and implement new and on-going social media and digital media marketing strategies.
- MARKETING/PROMOTION: Working with External Affairs, plan and supervise creation of visual content that accomplishes marketing objectives. Supervise implementation and marketing of game-day events and promotions.
- COLLABORATION: Work in a collaborative relationship with the Associate Directors of Athletics for External Affairs and Media Relations in planning and achieving departmental objectives. Organize and direct student staff to assist in the process.
- BRANDING: Lead efforts to create and sustain brand consistency on all social media and emerging media platforms throughout the department. Support and promote conference (ASC) and national (NCAA) playoff opportunities as teams qualify.
- VISUAL CONTENT: Supervise capturing of video and photographic highlights of athletic events for use in hype/highlight videos and other content. Maintain visual archive library.
- EQUIPMENT/TECHNICAL: Comprehensive knowledge of audio/video and technical equipment used by the department’s content creation team. Train and supervise use of this equipment by other staff members. Research and recommend additional equipment and/or repairs as needed.
- ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
- Develop event scripts for home contests and assist with various gameday functions.
- Oversee the production of all video board content, highlight and hype videos, presentations and visuals for coaches and staff members.
- Work directly with coaches and staff to create sport-specific engagement and marketing plans, per request.
- Ability to produce or host on-camera segments and/or podcasts.
REQUIREMENTS / SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in communications, journalism, video/film production, sports marketing or similar.
- 2 years in creative video production, preference for experience creating video for a sports team or organization; or similar.
- Experience using the Adobe Creative Suite (or similar programs) for editing and creating content.
- Familiarity with major social media platforms and their operation.
- Strong written/oral communication skills.
