Primary responsibilities of the Marketing & Fan Engagement Intern include, but are not limited to: coordinating and assisting the operation and success of the athletic department’s comprehensive marketing and fan engagement initiatives; helping to increase revenue through increased attendance of season tickets holders, groups/organizations, and individual ticket buyers at ticketed athletic events; helping to increase student attendance at athletic events; enhancing the gameday experience for fans/spectators; helping to ensure corporate partnership agreements are fulfilled; assisting the planning and coordination of the athletic department’s campus and community outreach; assisting with the mascot program and Scotty’s Kids Club; assist in the creation and distribution of social media designed to increase interest, excitement, loyalty and revenue for PC Athletics; assist in the planning and coordination of athletics special events; and other duties as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities: Marketing and Game Presentation: Assist in developing and executing marketing plans for all sports to drive ticket sales, attendance, and brand awareness. Special focus on Football, Men’s Basketball, and Women’s Basketball. Work with corporate sales to fulfill corporate partnership agreements. Assist in planning, directing, and evaluating game presentation, including but not limited to scripts, music, PA, video boards, promotions, and recognitions. Work with the Strategic Communications department to create promotional materials and in game content.
Campus and Community Relations: Campus and Community Relations: Community Outreach with local schools, churches, recreation departments, etc., to grow attendance, increase engagement, and build the PC Athletics/Blue Hose brand. Campus outreach to include working with Student Affairs, Greek Life, Campus Rec., etc., to increase student attendance, student, faculty and staff engagement, and build the PC Athletics/Blue Hose brand.
Program Management: Assist in oversight and management of athletic marketing programs such as: student workers/interns, the Scotty Mascot, Scotty’s Kids Club (paid membership), and student rewards. Assist in recruiting, training, and supervising of student interns, work study students, and mascots. Assist in developing and executing enhanced features of the Kid’s Club to increase membership and engagement. Work with external operating team to implement student rewards program.
Creative and Social Media: Participate in creation and proliferation of social media marketing strategy for the athletic department. Assist in the production of marketing materials such as schedule magnets, posters or other promotional items. Assist in management of PC athletic social media sites. Assist Strategic Communications in execution of photo shoots. Coordinate with Campus Marketing & Communications team to assure athletics constituents comply with university brand guidelines and overall university marketing strategies.
Special Events: Coordinate with the external operating team to plan and execute special events within athletics. (Blue Hose Mania, Templeton Takeover, etc.)
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Strong interest in athletics marketing and promotions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent public relations and promotional skills
Ability to work well with others
Ability to work nights and weekends for various functions and games
Master’s Degree in Business, Sports Administration, Marketing, Communications or other related field.
Marketing and/or promotional experience in athletics or related field.
NCAA Division 1 football or basketball in-game marketing and productions experience.
Graphic design experience, preferably with Photoshop or Illustrator.
