Specific Job Title: Search Engine Optimization (SEO) & Marketing Analytics Specialist
Reports to: Director or Digital Communications
Campus: Queens (Applicant can work remotely)
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Digital Communications, the SEO and Marketing Analytics Specialist will be responsible for the development and management of a reporting dashboard to measure the effectiveness of all earned, owned, and paid campaigns. The Specialist will review and analyze the University's organic and paid website and digital content to identify and implement opportunities to optimize from both a technical and content perspective. This role would provide a holistic understanding of Marketing and Communications' work's impact beyond and between paid campaigns, synthesizing data from impression to web activity, to Slate actions. This role would also provide and maintain a consistent SEO strategy, allowing us to continuously optimize the University's web assets.
To be a successful SEO and Marketing Analytics Specialist you should be driven, very detail-oriented and eager to find and communicate new ways to increase the University's organic visibility throughout search engines.
Essential Functions:
- Reviewing and analyzing University site pages for areas that can be improved and optimized
- Preparing detailed strategy reports
- Identifying powerful keywords to drive the most valuable traffic
- Tie together web activity from paid, owned and earned media to provide holistic reports of all touchpoints and their effect on campaign goals
- Under the direction of the Director of Media Planning, execute and oversee PPC campaigns that support strategic campaigns and priorities.
- Filling websites and other content with effective keywords
- Writing effective SEO content for blogs, websites, and social media accounts (would only include if we cannot pursue the second position)
- Developing link building strategies
- Analyzing keywords and SEO techniques used by competitors
- Finding and fixing St. John's site crawl errors related to SEO
- Keeping updated on both white hat and black hat SEO strategies to avoid stay within search engine guidelines
- Compiling and presenting SEO guidelines
Competencies
- Prior experience in data analytics, content marketing, content growth and SEO
- Working knowledge of search engine optimization practices
- Familiarity with CRM data, specifically Slate and Banner
- Knowledge of website CMS (Drupal, Wordpress, etc.)
- Outstanding ability to think creatively, strategically, and identify and resolve problems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skill
- Ability to work within a team and independently
- Expert knowledge of Google analytics
- Experience with website optimization tools
- Strong organizational, time management, and analytical skills
Work Environment
This position operates in a professional office environment; This position is required to use standard office equipment such as personal computers, printers, etc.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; move about; sit; to carry work and use controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; communicate.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Standard days and hours of operations are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This position may require night and weekend work hours.

Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in data analytics, marketing, communications, or a similar field.
- 2-4 years experience

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual salary range for this position is $75,700 - $92,000. St. John's University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
This position may be relocated to any of St. John's University's physical locations at any time
