Job Summary
The Senior Director of Marketing and Communications provides leadership, strategic direction, and oversight for the development and implementation of a fully integrated marketing and communications plan which supports the institutional vision and goals (recruitment, retention, and research).
Reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment and Retention Management (ERM), the Senior Director will be responsible for developing, implementing, and assessing strategic and integrated communications and marketing plans which include print, social media, electronic, and direct mail communications to critical university constituents. The Senior Director will be responsible for coordinating strategic market research necessary to inform the development of new marketing and communications activities as well as other assessments of customer satisfaction.
The Senior Director will work in conjunction with senior leaders in the Division of Academic Affairs on brand positioning, key message development, and agency roles. This role will oversee the responsibility for content strategy and execution for the division. This includes working with leadership on strategic priorities and identifying areas of integration within units
across the full division.
The Senior Director will work with Academic Deans, Associate Deans, and the Associate and Assistant Provosts to develop marketing plans that effectively communicate the Universitys academic strengths to target audiences.
This position collaborates closely with the central University Marketing and Communication Division, in order to reinforce the strong connection between Academic Affairs, Enrollment Retention Management, and Marketing and Communications.
Qualifications
Bachelors required and Masters in Marketing, Communications/Public Relations or MBA preferred
7 â“ 10 years of direct experience in marketing and communications
Experience working in higher education, admissions marketing experience preferred
Experience working with website content management systems and use of e-communications in creating marketing and communication plans
Experience in the development of print materials and direct mail campaigns
Experience writing copy and editing
Experience managing budgets
Market research skills
Supervisory experience required
Direct experience developing and implementing strategies to achieve institutional objectives.
Exceptional communication skills, strong analytical budget, and leadership skills are required.
Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment
