The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is seeking an Events Marketing Manager to support the presenting missions of the Department of Theatre Arts, School of Music, and Department of Dance. Working closely with the CLAS Marketing and Communications Manager as well as departmental leaders, the Events Marketing Manager will develop and implement marketing and promotional plans and tactics for seasons, presentations, performances, and events by these departments. Additionally, they will collaborate with the communications department of the Office of Performing Arts & Engagement to develop and implement a shared brand for the performing arts at Iowa.
Duties to include:
Coordinate with team(s) to develop design concepts for productions and performances.
Utilize Adobe Suite including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator to design marketing materials.
Develop and implement comprehensive marketing plans for respective departments to promote performances and events.
Contribute to concept development and strategy for marketing materials for each production, which may include direct mail, digital marketing, print and radio advertising, media pitches, or other outreach.
Ensure brand consistency in all projects by overseeing and/or developing design concepts, following through to completion of each project.
Develop and manage production-marketing budgets for Performing Arts academic departments, in coordination with Performing Arts administrator and department DEOs.
Train and supervise work of student marketing assistants and other student employees as appropriate.
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communication, advertising, design, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
3-5 years related professional experience in creation of marketing strategy and execution
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to write effectively under deadline for a variety of purposes, goals, audiences, and media
Proficient in computer software applications including Microsoft Office and the Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and InDesign
Portfolio of work samples that demonstrate quality and relevance of marketing ability through various channels
Professional creative project management experience including gathering requirements, developing briefs, utilizing project/planning tools, soliciting/applying feedback, shipping work
Experience in performing arts marketing and communication
