In an ongoing commitment to staff well-being, the Marketing and Communication Coordinator has the opportunity to work a partial remote schedule of four days in the office, and one day remote per work week during the academic year. Flexible remote work time during breaks in the academic schedule is also offered.
The Residence Life and Housing Department at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications to fill a full-time Marketing and Communications Coordinator.

Description of Responsibilities:
Under the general direction of the Associate Director for Occupancy and Business Operations, the Marketing and Communications Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing a variety of creative strategies focused on campus housing occupancy and retention for Residence Life & Housing (RLH). The Marketing and Communications Coordinator utilizes social media, video, web, print, special events, and admission and orientation activities to continuously promote campus living to a wide range of stakeholders. The Coordinator plans, designs, and maintains all promotional and procedural materials related to RLH working with a broad network of campus partners to promote the benefits of on-campus living; identifies assessment and market research strategies to analyze student needs and communication trends; and develops a variety of marketing initiatives to address assessment findings.
Responsibilities:
Marketing and Communications:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive year-long strategic marketing and communications plan dedicated to internal and external marketing of on-campus student housing, including promotions targeting the benefits of living on campus for a third year. Collaborate with the Marketing team to create campaigns based on changing student demographics, Enrollment Management projections, department strategic plan, and the overall interests of the Division of Student Affairs and SUNY Oswego
- Develop and maintain an annual planning calendar for communication actions and materials, including web pages, print media, email, portal content, social media, and other unique promotions, that inform our student, parent, and SUNY Oswego community
- Develop team-based approaches with the RLH Occupancy and Business Operations team to create seamless and effective systems to plan and implement content and communication strategies for returning, new student, and graduate processes
- Work closely with all units within Residence Life and Housing to understand their work and create content to tell their story to inform stakeholders about the value of the residential experience.
- Work with Digital Services staff (Web Developer and Web/Digital Content Coordinator) to design and maintain the department website using web design best practices with a focus on enhancing student and family experiences with room selection and arrival processes
- Use web design and content management best practices to ensure RLH webpages are current, accessible, and meets institutional standards using Drupal web content management system
- Plan and implement efforts through digital (social media, graphic design, video) and printed (brochures, promotional items) means to advance the department's communication with internal and external stakeholders. Partner with the graphic designers in Design and Print Services to produce print and digital marketing content for RLH including advertisements for upcoming dates, deadlines, and events
- Independently evaluate overall content and organization to present recommendations for improvements to website content to engage and inform students and families for all housing contract and room assignment processes, move-in/out, room sign up events and play key role directing and coordinating communications related to all residence hall opening and closing operations
- On an ongoing basis, update housing portal content, e-mail templates, social media accounts and RLH external communication
- Respond to inquiries on social media channels
- Assist with the crafting and dissemination of critical information during campus and or department crisis situations
- Develop and coordinate marketing RLH initiatives and events including Admissions, Opening Week and orientation events, room assignments, large scale events and staff selection processes to ensure RLH communicates clearly and consistently with students and their families
- Lead and coordinate RLH staff presence and presentations at Admissions and New Student Orientation (NSO) events
- Develop presentation talking points and slides and work with the RLH leadership team to continuously examine session effectiveness and make improvements
- Develop and coordinate the RLH showroom, hall tours, and on-campus communications with students and families
- Develop a strong relationship and work closely with the Office of Communications and Marketing to stay current on all relevant SUNY Oswego policies related to external communications, branding, and marketing. Apply SUNY Oswego design and brand standards to all communications initiatives
- Work with deadlines and metrics that assess the effectiveness of outreached measures and adjust efforts as needed
- Create, edit, and disburse student and family newsletters highlighting events, processes, and important information for residential students and maintain and annually edit the Resident Student Handbook and other print materials
- Work with the News and Media team to implement social media marketing and communication strategies and provide customer support and problem resolution, particularly those communicated and/or identified through online and social media platforms
- Manage and create advertisements for residence hall information digital displays (located at residence hall entrances/desks)
Analytics and Reporting:
- Provide ongoing, in-depth analysis of marketing and communications plans, - including website and social media analytics
- Identify trends in engagement and high and low-performing content. Recommend strategies for marketing to increase engagement with students and parents
- Use assessment data to support the planning and implementation of new marketing and communication initiatives
University Involvement and Customer Service:
- Develop key partnerships with offices across campus, including Admissions, Auxiliary Services, Campus Life, and Orientation to promote the advantage of living on-campus
- Assist in the coordination and execution of key programs sponsored by RLH or the Division of Student Affairs
- Attend regularly scheduled Residence Life and Housing staff meetings
- Serve as department representative to committees regarding marketing and communications, admissions, and new student orientation
- Some evening and weekend hours are required

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or another related field
- 2-4 years of relevant experience in a professional office setting
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and to work effectively with diverse constituencies and across administrative lines. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Google products, editing videos, and other marketing software Experience utilizing social media tools, including applications and analytics in a business setting

Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters Degree
- Experience in a higher education setting with a proven record of increasing marketing efforts and outreach
- Experience creating a social media campaign with a proven record of increasing reach and following.
