Reporting to the University Engagement Manager, the Communications Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the full range of CAS marketing and communication projects and initiatives, including a focus on university engagement, high school audience outreach, diversity, equity and inclusion, social media and thought leadership.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
High School Audience/Be An Actuary
- Manage the Be An Actuary website by providing ongoing oversight and developing content.
- Provide support to initiatives that promote the actuarial career to the high school audience.

- Administrative Support
- Event Planning
- Volunteer Recruitment
- Day of Tech Support
- Be An Actuary Marketing
- Support the development of marketing materials for relevant stakeholders i.e. AISES, SACNAS
- Be An Actuary Sponsored Events
- Assist with the recruiting of volunteers for Be An Actuary career fair booths
University Engagement
- Provide support in the planning, outreach and execution of the CAS Student Central Summer Program.
- Coordinate and support the CAS’s participation at exhibit halls at external events for students and academics.
- Support the development and execution of student programs at CAS meetings and seminars.
- Manage the processing of applications for the CAS Trust Scholarship.
- Support the recruitment and onboarding for the CAS University Liaison Program.
- General database/netforum support.
- Manage the CAS Student Central and Be An Actuary social media platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook)
Student and Candidate Engagement
- Assist in developing and maintaining communication plans for student and candidate communications
- Track and monitor all student and candidate communications via Real Magnet and web clicks
- Maintain target audience lists for targeted outreach
- Coordinate the internal schedule and production of Future Fellows newsletter
- Future Fellows/Candidate and Student Central website management and content development. Coordinate all marketing collateral to support the Candidates and CAS Student Central members including e-newsletters, flyers, brochures, and branded giveaway items
- Coordinate delivery of online communications (email, web announcements, etc.)
- Assist in developing and/or enhancing student and candidate communications
- Coordinate CAWG subgroup activities and ensure that activities are delivered on time and on budget
- Maintain CAS Student Central promotional materials and shipments.
- Identify additional vehicles to enhance engagement with students and candidates.
Research and Thought Leadership Support
- Support the research function as it relates to research grants provided to academics, opening up a new avenue of relationship building with these academics for broader university engagement opportunities.
- Support opportunities to position the CAS and CAS members as thought leaders through promotion of CAS research and support of research working groups.
Marketing and Communications Support
- Assisting with the management of CAS social media activities including both organic and paid social media campaigns
- Fulfilling weekly posting schedule across social networking platforms for CAS and CAS Student Central websites.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Fully accredited 4-year degree with course work related to communications and/or marketing.
- A minimum of two years’ work experience in communications; association experience preferred. Formal internship experience will also be considered. Knowledge of insurance industry a plus.
- Expertise and proven work experience in multiple social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram.
- Familiarity with graphic design tools such as Canva or InDesign.
- Experience in drafting website and social media content.
- Strong writing, verbal presentation, and project management skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive and productive working relationships with a variety of individuals including members, volunteers, and staff.
- Ability be able to work independently as well as part of a team, with high levels of initiative and strong attention to detail.
- Solid analytical and organizational skills and ability to plan, track and perform multiple tasks; must be able to manage multiple priorities and maintain high attention to detail.
- Proficiency using e-mail communication, Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required. Experience with association management systems (Netforum) and email marketing platforms (Real Magnet) would be a plus.
- Willingness to travel domestically for work (up to 5 times per year).
