The department collaborates with campus partners to actively influence strategy, practice, and innovation.
Job Summary
The CRM Communications Data Analyst is a full-time position in Bloomington Enrollment Marketing and Communications that supports digital communication initiatives for the Bloomington Office of Enrollment Management (OEM). This position works within various Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) tools and database systems to provide accurate data for use in marketing, transactional, and event related communications for units within OEM and our partners.
Department Specific Responsibilities
- Defines, develops, maintains, and loads data from external and internal sources into our Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) systems
- Translates plain-language requests into CRM reports and SQL queries
- Troubleshoots and performs root cause analysis on data implementation errors
- Coordinates with operations team members to ensure communications have the appropriate data points for the target population
- Structures and submits data to and from outside entities, conforming to unique specifications and requirements
- Analyzes student data and prepares information for use in internal operations reports
- Learns new platforms and toolsets and maintains existing systems in their current operating environments
- Provides instructions and guidance to staff, plans work, provides feedback and establishes timelines for team projects
General Responsibilities
- Provides analysis of existing data and data structures and satisfies ad-hoc reporting/analysis requests.
- Creates reporting specifications for new reports/dashboards/analytical tools and assists in testing/validation; ensures integrity, accessibility, and accuracy of reports/dashboards and data structures; reviews and approves user requests for access to reporting data and tools.
- Consults with faculty and/or staff to identify new business reporting needs and provides guidance and interpretation of complex environments and data.
- Documents data analysis efforts (data sources, reporting specifications, tools, issue/problem resolutions).
- Researches and stays up-to-date on emerging technologies and data analysis tools.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
Bachelor's degree (preferably in computer science, information science, or related field)
WORK EXPERIENCE
Preferred
Some experience in data analysis/reporting or related experience - 2 years of digital marketing communications experience
- Higher education and IU experience

- Salesforce Marketing Cloud and/or Slate CRM experience
Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
Work Location
This position is eligible for remote work or to work a hybrid schedule (mix between remote and in-person work), subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.
