The North Central Regional Transit District (RTD) was formed in 2004 and began service in 2007, covering a 10,079-square-mile area with a population of approximately 249,333. The RTD provides free-fare and premium fare-based bus transit connecting communities and pueblos throughout the North Central New Mexico counties of Los Alamos, Rio Arriba, Santa Fe, San Juan, and Taos. These include 26 fare free Fixed and Flex routes, and two MyBlue micro-transit/ para-transit service zones.
The North Central Regional Transit District is searching for a skilled and strategic communications professional ready to bring their combination of leadership, creativity, and collaboration to this role and help drive the organization forward. Strong marketing skills and experience, including branding and public relations, are crucial for this role. The successful candidate will be asked to help grow existing services and develop new ones while working with multiple governmental entities, requiring exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. In addition to various advertising, marketing, and public relations strategies, campaigns, techniques, and best practices, candidates should be well-versed in photography and typography, the principles of design and layout techniques, public information records management, proposal development, social media and other emerging technology, and media relations.
Possessing highly developed technical, presentation, and media skills is also essential for this position, and candidates should feel comfortable engaging with and presenting to a wide range of audiences. Any combination of training and experience that would provide this position’s required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be earning the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
Candidates should also have at least seven years of increasingly responsible experience in the public or private sector in public information, marketing, advertising, education, and/or outreach, including two years in a management or supervisory capacity. Transit experience is a plus but is not required. The selected candidate must also maintain a valid New Mexico driver’s license throughout their employment with the RTD.
In addition to a salary range of $73,390 to $97,058, dependent on experience and qualifications, the District is offering a competitive benefits package for this position, including medical, dental, and life insurance; paid time off; tuition reimbursement; a retirement plan; and the option of a flex schedule.
