The Department of Housing and Residence Life as part of the Division of Student Development helps students develop as leaders who are spiritually formed, critically reflective, and socially and personally responsible.
As a member of the Leadership Team, the Assistant Director of Assignments and Marketing, manages housing assignments for a 4,000 bed system. Additionally, they provide direction, leadership and supervision to an Assignment Coordinator, and Graduate student. Staff positions in Housing and Residence Life are not traditional office hour positions. Schedules are influenced by student and community needs. There will be times throughout the year when the Assistant Director will be expected to work evenings and weekends. Availability during this time will be determined in conjunction with the supervisor.
Housing on campus is not required for this Assistant Director role.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Assistant Director of Assignments and Marketing is a vital member of the residence hall community and a staff leader for the Housing and Residence Life Department. The Assistant Director, is supervised by the Associate Director of Operations, and is expected to work with the rest of the department leadership team to establish goals and strategies for Housing and Residence Life. This position is responsible for the successful implementation of the goals and strategies in their area while remaining true to the mission and vision of the department.
Selection and Assignment Process

Supervise the selection and assignment process for an on-campus 4,200 bed housing system

Communicate with students regarding housing operations tasks, deadlines, and processes

Oversee approval process for early arriving and late stay students

Serve as primary contact for enrollment management, admissions, student financial services, athletics, and international student services
Recruitment, Training and Development
-
Supervise and oversees the hiring and training of assignments and marketing staff

Conduct staff performance communications; oversees the internal office procedures for student billing and advance payments, updating forms and refund requests, ensuring timely response to emails, tracking archive system for file management, and the housing contract release process;

Coordinate student communications regarding upcoming processes; responsible for the department website
Occupancy Statics
-
Maintain and reports occupancy statics and other information for housing projections, budget development, trend analysis, and data management

Responsible for appropriate billing of on campus students
Communications
-
Manage meetings/communications with departments regarding the processes for housing of on-campus students; works with Center for Accessibility and Resources, athletics, and international student services to determine students’ housing needs

Partner with admissions and student financial services staff to verify deposits and completed applications for freshman and non-registered students
Administrative Responsibilities

Maintain a balanced schedule of office hours for committee, staff one-on-ones, and walk-in appointments

Provide written reports (weekly, quarterly, and end of the year)

Participate in budget planning discussions and the development of the fiscal year budget with proposed and revised budget planning;

Oversee budget lines for assigned areas and/or committee
Assessment

Utilize quantitative and qualitative assessment to produce positive changes and provide quality service to students

Support and administer approved department and/or division assessment programs/initiatives

Capture feedback from residents about assignments, or community success/issues/concerns

Serve as a direct contact with students and parents
Collaboration

Assist campus partners with student recruitment initiatives (scholarship weekends, campus visit days)

Collaborate with other departments and/or other student support offices;

Work to support Division of Student Development and University strategic priorities, goals and mission
Department-wide Responsibilities

Serve on/chair departmental and/or division committee(s)

Advise the Live on Campus crew with innovative, student friendly campaigns
Camps and Conferences
-
Coordinate the planning and execution of conference logistics; both pre-conference and onsite
-
Maintain accurate expense and billing records. Create, track and send invoices for participants and assigned conferences

Lead a student team by making decisions, offering advice, and evaluating performance
-
Schedule buildings, rooms, and additional needs for each conference
Additional Responsibilities

Assists in the management of department operations, strategic and master planning, budget, goal setting, and establishing appropriate policies and procedures

Performs other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
A Bachelor’s Degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, or College Student Development or related field is required. Master’s degree preferred. At least 3-5 years of full-time experience is required, with direct experience overseeing a residential assignment preferred. The Assistant Director position is considered a security sensitive position. Finalists will be subjected to a background check and will be required to submit fingerprints as a part of the process. All candidates will be required to submit academic transcripts to verify education.
Housing on campus is not required for this Assistant Director role.
