Scope of Position
At The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC James), our vision is to create a cancer-free world, one person, one discovery at a time. Members of the Marketing, Communications and Digital Department that support the OSUCCC James are responsible for the overall brand management and communications and marketing initiatives on behalf of Ohio States cancer program. This includes, but is not limited to, communication of vision, programs and services of the cancer program to faculty, staff, referring physicians, cancer researchers, donors and the public on a local, regional, national and international basis. The OSUCCC James Communications and Marketing team works collaboratively within The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Strategic Marketing and Communications Department and with The Ohio State University Communications and Marketing Department to assure alignment and coordination of key messages and program initiatives.
Position Summary
The senior consultant of James development communications and marketing drives the development and implementation of all marketing and communications for cancer program development. The senior manager oversees and manages the conceptual design, production, content and creation of all marketing and collateral materials for development tactics, events and audiences. In addition to managing projects, this position manages vendors, freelancers and students necessary to complete the work. This position works closely with cancer program marketing and communications colleagues to identify opportunities and to integrate the donor audience into existing marketing and communications projects. This position collaborates with cancer program Development, University Development and University Advancement Departments to support the communication needs for a variety of initiatives, events and programs. This person has to develop and maintain a keen sense and understanding of the entire cancer program, its product lines, business plans and development plans. The senior consultant will be required to embed themselves in all aspects of the cancer program both clinical and research. They will also be responsible for supervising the marketing consultant position that also supports James Development. In partnership with the marketing consultant, this position will manage the communications and marketing strategies and execution of key James Development marketing initiatives, including but not limited to: print and email publications; multiple high profile events such as Pelotonia, Ohio States superpeloton Team Buckeye, Block Lectureship, Step Up for Stefanie, Buckeye Cruise for Cancer, Celebration for Life; the cancer community partners groups; and more. Collectively, these initiatives generate millions of dollars for the cancer program and touch tens of thousands of people annually.
Minimum Qualifications
For Hire:
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, marketing, communications or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of five years of professional marketing and communications experience; 7-10 years desired
- Prefer experience working with donors groups or audiences
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
