All Student Life Marketing staff will contribute to the creation, implementation, and assessment of various marketing and communications initiatives.Job Summary
The Content Creator will strategize, create, implement, and assess videos and other multimedia solutions on the social media accounts for the Office of Student Life, Indiana Memorial Union, and Student Health Center.
Department Specific Responsibilities
- Collaborates closely with the social media coordinators, full-time staff, and campus partners to create engaging, results-driven, (and sometimes trendy) videos for social media platforms throughout the year.
- Reports to the Director and works closely with various members of the Student Life Marketing team and professional staff/clients from around the Indiana Memorial Union, Student Health Center, Dean of Students Office, and many more departments within Student Life.
- Members of Student Life Marketing participates in various meetings, workshops, critiques, and brainstorming sessions as necessary.
- Strategizes, creates, and implements video solutions for the social media accounts for the Office of Student Life, Indiana Memorial Union, the Student Health Center, and possibly other Student Life depts.
- Creates videos for Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube vertical and/or horizontal videos.
- Creates and references a planning calendar for videos works ahead, recruits models, and collaborates with internal and external partners to ensure videos are ready when it's time to shoot.
- Helps post/schedule social media posts as necessary.
- Researches and monitors latest trends in social media to ensure our accounts stay relevant and engaging.
- Creates monthly and quarterly social media analytics reports to determine the effectiveness and the direction of future strategies.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
- Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University
SKILLS
Required
- Strong understanding of the ever-changing landscape of videos and video trends on various social media platforms
- Strong understanding of all current, relevant social media platforms
- Experience with video editing on mobile devices.(i.e. CapCut)
- Familiarity in taking quality photographs and photography principles
- Familiarity using Microsoft Office programs
- Current Indiana University student
- Fine attention to detail
- Professionalism, dependability, and respect for others
- Exceptional decision-making skills and autonomy
- Exceptional written and communication skills
- Performs well in a team-oriented, collaborative atmosphere
- Strong sense of curiosity and creativity

Preferred
- Pursuit of a degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Digital Media, or related field
- Experience managing social media accounts that were not simply personal accounts
- Experience taking pictures and filming/editing videos to post to social media
- Understanding of effective marketing tactics
- Ability to be personable, comfortable talking to others
- Being comfortable directing others, including full-time staff and management
