POSITION SUMMARY:
The Marketing Communications Manager (MCM) is critical to the success of School marketing and communication efforts. The MCM assists in the successful implementation of marketing plans; communication and engagement strategies; and various School events. The MCM is responsible for the management of content creation, social media management, website maintenance, project management of collateral material, event support and publicity.
Under the guidance of the Director of Operations, the MCM is responsible for developing, managing and continuously improving the Schools social media platforms, web pages, promotional videos and other online content with the goal of producing internal and external messages of the highest quality that are consistent with the mission, institutional identity, positioning and strategic priorities of the School and Duquesne University and targeting various audiences–ensuring appropriate tone and style–on multiple platforms.
The MCC will be evaluated based on their ability to meet established goals andthrough feedback fromappropriate constituencies. Work will be reviewed through regularly scheduled meetings, reports, analysis, and observation of results.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Copywriting and Proofreading Specialists
Writes clear, persuasive, original copy for the printed materials, web, social media, email marketing campaigns, newsletters, and press releases
Research and verify facts, and interview faculty, staff and students when needed
Writes scripts for video content necessary to support our strategic growth objectives
Proofreads copy supplied by multiple sources to check spelling and grammar
Social Media Specialists
Leads the strategy, creation, execution, and delivery of social media initiatives. Implements the latest social media strategies and techniques, including but not limited to: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and more
Monitors effective benchmarks and best practices for measuring the impact of social media campaigns. Analyzes, reviews, and reports on the effectiveness of campaigns in an effort to maximize results
Monitors social media analytics, reporting regularly on performance and adjusting strategy to continuously improve results
Optimizes messaging based on feedback, testing and best practices
Web and Graphics Specialists
Researches, creates, writes, edits, and constantly improves compelling copy for the websites, social media platforms, and digital and print publications
Manages and continuously reviews and improves the usability, design, content, graphics, videos, and photography of the website
Reviews and analyzes reports via Google Analytics and other tools on web performance to monitor, optimize, and improve performance
Ability to create web graphics to promote events, stories, and testimonials
Project Management
Develops and implements projects- with a special emphasis on recruitment- from concept to completion, including message development, writing, project management, client interaction and other related duties
Serves as the liaison to the Department of Marketing and Communications
Works with individuals to improve the quality of marketing efforts for the departments and programs of the University he/she is assigned to and ensure that their marketing plans are aligned with the University brand
Articles/Publicity
Interviews faculty and alumni and writes articles to be included on the School’s web page and social media as well as external outlets
Submits news articles and publicity information regarding faculty and student accomplishments to appropriate trade publications
Governs information for publications, articles/news and website, including solicits, composes, proofreads and edits information into the proper formats
Completes other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a concentration in one or more of the following: marketing, communications, or multi-media/journalism and 3+ years of experience in digital marketing, social media management, or related field
Competitive candidates will also have and provide examples of Excellent writing and editing skills; a strong working knowledge of current web technologies and social media management; impeccable grammar, an eye for typographical errors, and strong attention to detail; experience managing social media platforms including: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram; an ability to communicate the benefits of a Duquesne education to prospective undergraduate and graduate students; a working knowledge of HTML, and other popular web languages; experience with Content Management Systems; experience with Google Analytics and other web analytics software; ability to create graphics for the web and print; working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite applications; an understanding of how digital marketing aligns with an integrated marketing plan.
The successful candidate must possess experience writing and editing web, digital technology and marketing content; strong organizational skills and attention to detail; excellent communication skills; and excellent customer service skills.
Preferred qualifications:
A master's degree from an accredited institution in a related area .
