Position Summary
The Heilbrunn Department of Population and Family Health (HDPFH) in the Mailman School of Public Health seeks a Communications and Marketing Coordinator to support departmental communications and outreach, while partnering with the Mailman School's Communications department and others to promote the department's distinctive accomplishments and educational programs to internal and external audiences.
The HDPFH faculty, staff, and students examine the health needs and human rights of diverse populations in communities across the globe, generating scholarly research, advocacy, and education initiatives that illuminate the department's intellectual distinction and commitment to underserved populations.
Reporting to the Departmental Administrator, the Communications and Marketing Coordinator will be responsible for executing the department???s strategic communications plan, while working closely with faculty and administrative staff in the department. This position requires outstanding written and communication skills and the ability to work proactively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Identify departmental events, faculty, staff, student and alumni activities that can be used for content on social media, websites, newsletters and magazines.
- Act as a liaison between the department and central Communications and Alumni Relations departments.
- Develop content for social media, event promotion and websites.
- Post content to social media platforms.
- Manage photo library and edit photos for use in communications vehicles.
- Update recruitment materials including print and digital media.
- Outreach to external and internal stakeholders to expand applications and retention of accepted students, including through Mailchimp and social media outlets.
- Mailchimp database management and maintenance.
- Departmental listserv management and maintenance in excel.
- Manage, update, and develop new web content for department webpages in coordination with central Communications team.
- Manage and update faculty profiles.
- Promote events through event calendar, university digital signage, digital posters and social media.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires a Bachelor???s degree or equivalent in education and experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Teams.
- Knowledge and experience using Instagram, LinkedIn and other social media platforms.
- Knowledge of social media platforms such as Instagram, X, Threads and LinkedIn, and also planning programs such as Hootsuite.
- Experience and enthusiasm for writing to a range of audiences in various formats.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of faculty, staff, students and external stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Interest in global and community health.
- Advanced degree in a related field.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Experience with website software such as Drupal.
Other Requirements

- Social media post in Instagram, Facebook or X.
- Any samples of posters, slides or other visual media.
