Marketing and Computing Support Specialist -Hybrid Opportunity
The School of Humanities and Sciences (H&S) is the foundation of a liberal arts education at Stanford. The school encompasses 23 departments and 25 interdisciplinary programs. Department/Program Description
Anthropology is the study of human experience, action and imagination in all its breadth and diversity. It is distinct from other social sciences in encompassing both the full span of human history and the full range of human societies and cultures, including those located in historically marginalized areas of the world. As a result, anthropology is especially attuned to questions of social, cultural, and biological diversity and to issues of power, identity, and inequality. Anthropology is comparative and global in its scope and ambition but understands social ties, institutions, moral convictions, cultural frames and beliefs to be situated in specific historical, economic and regional contexts.
Position Summary
The Department of Anthropology is searching for a full-time marketing and computing support specialist to support department's marketing and technology needs. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations, this role will be responsible for creating and maintaining faculty and department websites; managing the publication of department's annual newsletter and student journal; curating social media content on a variety of platforms; designing flyers, brochures, and other marketing materials; creating innovative marketing programs and tools to increase the exposure of department programs, social events, and department opportunities. The position will also assist with department's technology needs, including resolving basic end-user problems and escalating problems as appropriate, setting up equipment to for in-person, hybrid, and virtual events, and assisting with faculty and staff computing purchases as necessary. The ideal candidate will have experience in communications across various channels (e.g. web, social media, intranet) and the ability to promote the brand and reputation of the department to internal and external audiences, and the ability to work collaboratively across the department.
This is a 100% FTE, continuing exempt position. This position will be based on the Stanford campus and will be considered for an option of telecommuting (hybrid of working on-site and off-site), subject to operational need. CORE DUTIES:
* Execute marketing strategies to meet business objectives.
* Implement marketing plans/programs to meet business objectives, including collaboration with internal stakeholders and vendor partners.
* Write, edit and schedule select marketing communications which adhere to communications and brand strategy for a variety of channels (i.e., web, print, email, online).
* Manage the design and production of select marketing materials.
* Conduct competitive benchmarking and analyze campaign/program/service/event effectiveness used to inform decisions regarding strategic marketing direction, product segmentation and customer targeting.
* Assess market opportunities and research market trends.
* May plan and execute events to support marketing objectives.
* Monitor and oversee product/program budgets to meet program goals.
* Coordinate vendor estimates and invoice processing.
* Provide first line of response to requests for various hardware, software, peripheral, and networking technical assistance, escalate as appropriate.
* Gather and record asset inventory and software license information.
*Other duties may be assigned.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience; or a combination of education and relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Previous experience in product, program and/or services marketing.
* Ability to work independently to meet expected deadlines and schedules.
* Experience with managing projects.
* Knowledge of marketing across channels including digital and print.
* Familiar with market research and data analysis.
* Creative problem solver.
* Excellent oral and written skills.
In addition, preferred requirements include:
* Working knowledge of web content management systems such as Drupal and Wordpress and social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook.
* Experienced in Adobe Creative Cloud suite of tools including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator, and Microsoft Office tools including MS Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Familiarity with both Windows and MacOS desired.

The expected pay range for this position is $64,800 to $97,000 per annum.
