Salary Details:

Graduate assistant will receive full tuition waiver for up to 9 credit hours per semester (Fall/Spring), plus opportunity to apply for additional tuition waiver for summer term.

Southeast Missouri State University, a NCAA Division I institution is seeking applications for a graduate assistant to provide support to the Department of Athletics marketing & fan engagement efforts, while gaining valuable intercollegiate athletics marketing, game operations, and revenue generation experience.
SEMO is the winner of the OVC Commissioner's Cup in two of the past three school years, and has won more conference championships than any other school in the OVC since 2019. Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Brady Barke was named NACDA Athletic Director of the Year in 2022. The marketing team has won 9 NACMA 'Best Of' Awards in the past three years.
The University has a total enrollment of nearly 10,000 students in Cape Girardeau, MO, situated near the bank of the Mississippi River in a community of over 80,000 in Cape Girardeau County. Cape Girardeau is located on Interstate 55, approximately two hours south of St. Louis, and three hours north of Memphis.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Create, plan and execute marketing and promotional plans to increase attendance at the athletic home events from students, faculty/staff, and external constituents for all Division I athletic teams
Responsibility for in-game marketing and promotions associated with assigned events, such as the production of game scripts, organization of in-venue entertainment, coordination with spirit groups, and sponsorship activation
Develop and implement student marketing plans with strategies to increase and maintain high levels of student involvement and attendance
Manage SEMO’s presence at community events and grassroots fan initiatives, possibly including mascot appearances or other special efforts as assigned
Provide leadership in overseeing a staff of undergraduate interns
Coordinate the administration and management of Rowdy’s Kids Club
Create and design marketing materials for use on social media platforms, digital signage, print, etc.
Coordinate and implement social media programs with the external team
Assist with the solicitation and fulfillment of corporate sponsorship agreements
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in sport management, business, marketing, sales, public relations, advertising or related field.
Minimum one year of related work or volunteer experience, preferably in collegiate athletics.
Self-motivated with a positive attitude
Ability to communicate effectively with coaches, athletics staff, students, and external audiences
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment requiring critical thinking, multitasking, and organization skills
Ability and willingness to work nights and weekends as assigned
Ability to handle the physical demands of being on your feet and able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Working knowledge of Abode Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop and/or InDesign preferred
Graduate Assistant Requirements
Admission to the School of Graduate Studies and a Master’s Program at Southeast Missouri State
Maintain a 3.0 GPA in their selected area of study during graduate school
Compensation:
$1,100 monthly stipend (paid bi-weekly), plus the opportunity to earn additional hourly wage during summer and break periods.
