Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Marketing Specialist for the division of Student Affairs. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Marketing and Creative Services within SAMC, the Marketing Specialist primarily assists with the creation of graphic design assets to support the division's marketing and communications initiatives. The Marketing Specialist will assist with digital and print media design and development, branding of supported departments and their programs, and the coordination of a consistent message with the Division of Student Affairs and all other departmental and divisional initiatives. The Marketing Specialist will also assist the SAMC team with event and program photography and videography, as well as the creation and execution of marketing plans for the division.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
Designs marketing, promotional, informational, and programmatic materials for various distribution outlets, both print and digital.
Assists with the management of graphic design projects, including the day-to-day project management and assignment to graphic design students.
Assists in hiring, training, and directly supervising student staff, providing feedback on creative work and overall job performance.
Assists SAMC team with photo and video capture of events and programs.
Provides design and marketing concept recommendations for programs, events and venues and creates appropriate print and digital materials to market events, services, programs, and various divisional operations.
Assists SAMC staff in creating and executing marketing plans for departments within the Division of Student Affairs.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a bachelor's degree, preferably in visual arts or graphic design, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Minimum 2-year experience with graphic design, project management, public relations, or communications, particularly in a web environment.

Mac operating system, Windows operating system, Microsoft Office, Photo/Video equipment (DSLR and specialized cameras, tripods, lighting, microphone systems), Wordpress and Drupal Content Management Systems, online project management systems, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube; Adobe Creative Suite (especially Illustrator and InDesign). Online teleconferencing and collaboration tools such as Zoom, WebEx, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, Box, and Smartsheet.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Light lifting and carrying of photographic/Video equipment (up to 25 pounds).
Time will be divided between working out of the office and on location around the New Brunswick campus for meetings, event coverage, and observation of facility usage and student media consumption trends.
Special Conditions:
This position may be required to work some evenings and weekends in order to attend divisional programs to capture photography and video, implement marketing contests, and document moments of student and staff achievements.
