The Center for Brain Recovery (CBR) seeks a creative and proactive Marketing and Events Specialist to enhance our outreach, storytelling, and engagement efforts. This role is crucial in communicating our events, goals, and needs to a growing audience, finding innovative ways to connect with them.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Graphic Design and Website Management (55%)
Manage the creation and distribution of our monthly newsletter.
Design and produce an annual digital (and potentially print) report for public dissemination and Office of Research requirements.
Collaborate with university departments and external vendors to create and manage Center-branded merchandise.
Manage and respond to internal feedback and revisions for the website.
Update and revise web pages and content to effectively communicate ongoing projects and fundraising campaigns.
Work closely with project leads to address specific grant needs and other Center initiatives.
Oversee BU signage, including graphic design, broadcast control, and ensuring functionality.
2. Event Communication, Planning, and Marketing (35%)
Develop and distribute communications to generate interest and drive registration for events.
Collect and manage registrant information, coordinating with Center Administration for event needs.
Boast event awareness through university newsletters and collaboration with other departments.
Design promotional materials such as posters and digital assets for events.
Assist with any project-related tasks and attend events in-person
Collaborate with internal and external vendors on quotes and logistics for events.
Participate in discussions on increasing Center visibility and event improvement strategies.
3. Resource Management and Miscellaneous Tasks (10%)
Assist in compiling marketing budgets, particularly for programs like CHAT, ICCR, and other ongoing initiatives.
Research best practices for SEO/SEM and advise on resource allocation for marketing efforts, including the use of tools such as Mailchimp.
Participate in administrative meetings, offering suggestions for improving the Center's logistical functions.
Refine internal processes, including managing certain accounts and overseeing internal requests for changes.
Required Skills
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required; degrees in web design, graphic design, marketing, or a related field are preferred.
Submission of a portfolio with 3-5 samples showcasing web and graphic design skills.
Experience managing websites via content management systems (WordPress preferred).
Experience with website redesigns, focusing on user experience and navigation.
Proficiency in HTML and CSS is a plus, though not required.
Familiarity with Google Analytics with a willingness to further develop skills.
High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Adaptable, proactive, and able to thrive in a dynamic, changing environment.
Strong organizational skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a small team.
